First Book Report Due - Thursday, September 15th

Here are a few reminders as we head into our third week:

Reading aloud is an important skill for second grade!  The children need a bit more practice at home in order to do this fluently.  Please give your child lots of opportunities to read out loud to you.

Each day your child should be reading at home and practicing basic math facts.  These should be considered daily homework assignments; the little bit of time spent practicing these important skills at home makes a big difference here at school!

Communication between home and school is vital to a productive school year.  Please be sure to sign and return any reminder notes.

Please be sure your child's name is clearly written on all clothing - it is the best way to be sure a misplaced item is returned to your child.

Our snack time is about making healthy food choices.  Here are some ideas from the August 2008 edition of Chicago Parent magazine that would really help fuel our day: apple wedges or celery with peanut butter, almonds mixed with dried fruit, wheat crackers and cheese, fresh fruit or vegetables, breadsticks.  Please no cookies, chips or candy for snack time.
