 Enjoy a Safe and Happy Summer!
It's hard to believe that a whole school year has passed -- but one look at these children shows it's true!! They've certainly grown -- taller AND wiser!! They have made such strides and they truly are ready for the challenges of second grade. It has been a great year! I hope you and your families will enjoy the break and make the most of the gift of time together this summer! Keeping Them Ready for Next Year! This summer, the best way to keep the children on track for second grade is the encourage them to read, Read, READ!!! Offer a few spelling words as a game on car trips, and practice some math facts on the way to and from the store. For more formal practice, you might want to invest in a summer workbook such as the Summer Bridge series which is available at most bookstores. These bright colorful books can be useful tools to keep those sharp brains engaged all summer! Looking for a great summer practice website? Take a look at our links on the Parents page! We spent the whole year building good learning habits, such as sitting up straight, holding pencils correctly, listening to and following directions, being patient, polite and taking good care of our things. These are skills and habits that will be very helpful as the children approach second grade next year, especially when they are reinforced at home this summer. Thank You! I was touched and pleased by the retirement celebration at our pizza party this week. Thank you to all for your kindness, generosity and good wishes! I will always keep happy memories of my very last class!! |
